2009

Now that the distraction of the holiday season is over I’ve been able to finish getting our fully redundant gigabit network online here in the bullpen area of Media Medic. The cities power can go out and our entire network will still be online with our APC Back-UPS.  We also finally purchased our terabyte network drive and I have been abusing it ever since. I just got the first two seasons of Kitchen Nightmares and finally found a movie I’ve been wanting to watch ever since I saw the commercial. It easily the best movie I’ve seen all year and I highly recommend watching it. It’s got a good message no matter which way you look at it. It by Bill Maher and its called Religulous.

The New Year is almost here and that means 2-3 weeks of having to wait for a cardio machine at the gym. I do see a lot of good things down the road for this New Year as well.  Hopefully one of us will manage to take some pictures I can post at Together As One Tomorrow!

England to Scotland via train

The weather here has been typical for a summer in England but has been driving me nuts. Sunny outside one minute raining harder than you’ve ever seen sideways the next then sunny 30 minutes after that. Because of this I NE Scotlandwasn’t able to iron out a beach trip to Cornwall. I was able to work with Eric and get the website for one of the businesses (www.mediamedic.org) we are going to be working on in the states. It’s live but still needs minor corrections and additions.  If you see any errors please send them to Taylor@mediamedic.org.  Eric’s dad has already let us know about a few things we might want to look at and those should be corrected shortly.

Back to my trip.  I decided to take a train up to Inverness in the highlands of Scotland for a few nights. It was tough for me to find a place to stay in such short notice but I was able to after a few hours on the phone. I’m excited about seeing the castles and William Wallace exhibit.  Maybe I’ll even catch a glimpse of our underwater ally. I should be able to take some amazing pictures there assuming the weather is somewhat decent.

A side note before I leave. My power adapter I brought from the states for my laptop melted tonight. I have 1 hour or so until my computer is dead for the rest of the trip unless I go and try to find another one. I’m bummed because it just happened but won’t worry about it until I get back.

Computer problems…

I’m guessing some of you are wondering why I haven’t posted any pictures. Well, quite simply, getting an American appliance(i.e. laptop) to work in Europe can be a major pain in the ass. At first I thought I fried my laptop and I still might have but I’m leaning more towards this US power adapter I brought being a piece or the fact that Eric has this power strip I’m plugging into bridged off like 3 other power strips. Or it could be solar flares I really don’t know. Either way I’m only able to charge my laptop for about 15 minutes before this adapter gets too hot and in turn stops charging. That’s with the laptop off. If I turn the laptop on the adapter lasts about 5 minutes before meltdown. So what I’m doing is plugging it in and charging then unplugging and waiting. I should be able to get enough juice in it this way to at least get my pictures off my camera. If I don’t figure out this power problem soon though I may have to shelf my laptop and go to plan B.
